IAAP Connections Newsletter
Article/News Submission Guidelines
News items and article submissions are welcome from
members/chapters/divisions/districts. Send submissions and/or
story ideas to IAAP Connections editor Emily Hoffman at
ehoffman@iaap-hq.org.
Author Guidelines: Please use basic
"reporting" writing style and be sure to include the basic "who, what,
where, when and why" details. Please understand that space is
limited and the editor cannot promise anyone that a particular item will
be published.
Topic Guidelines
We
are looking especially for the following types of news items:
-
Exceptional chapter educational or networking programs --
examples of well-attended programs on management skills, technology,
effective communication -- focus
more on top-notch professional development
programs.
-
Chapters that have been successful in gaining
and/or retaining members. Include information on why the chapter has
been successful and marketing/recruiting tips or incentive programs that
other chapters might use.
-
For members who recently
achieved their CPS or CAP rating: examples of employer recognition, local
media articles, study tips, how achieving certification helped advance
your career, gain confidence, and become a more effective contributor to
your employer.
-
Outstanding items written
by chapter newsletter editors or contributed by members to chapter newsletters.
-
Individual
honors or awards achieved by IAAP
members - employee awards, community
service activities, academic achievements, public speaking/presentations on
behalf of IAAP.
-
Examples
of successful local publicity/public relations campaigns; local chapter
media coverage.
-
Chapter
meeting and operations tips -- examples of
streamlining meetings, chapters that have been successful in fostering
participation among members (and how they did it),
and tips on how to make participation in chapter activities "fun" as
well as personally rewarding, while at the same time advancing our
association's mission.
-
Examples of
chapters that have built good relationships with local educational
institutions -- successful "win/win" partnerships with Student Chapters,
teachers, and students. For those who have been successful in attracting
significant numbers of student involvement in IAAP, practical "how to"
advice on how you did it.
-
Partnership
success stories with local business,
government agencies, community groups -- "success story" examples of
cooperation in supporting the profession and/or IAAP.
-
Photos of chapter group
activities or other photos of interest.
Send photos via e-mail as file
attachments in JPEG or BITMAP format
in as high-resolution as possible, or send actual photo and we'll scan and
convert to digital format here at
Headquarters. Include IDs of those pictured and
brief explanation of the photo.
-
Examples of "fun"
programs or community service activities which have built a spirit of
"connectivity" and camaraderie among chapter members.
