Union Colony Chapter Gives Back To Our Community

Each December, the Union Colony Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals®= (IAAP®), focuses on a project in helping the community.  This year, during the months of October, November, and December, the chapter accepted member donations for the Community Outreach Center (COC) in Greeley, Colorado.

The Community Outreach Center started in 1982 by a group of women that saw a need in our community. The goal is to give temporary help and hope to those going through a “tough time.”

In Weld County, 8 percent of families live below poverty level and 16 percent of families with children under 5 years of age live below poverty level. More than half of the clients are single mothers with multiple children. Many live from one paycheck to the next in careful existence. But when someone gets sick or loses a job or there are problems with the car or the house, they need temporary help.

The COC offers food, clothing, bedding, school supplies, baby clothing, small housewares, books, and many other items.

Union Colony Chapter members were excited about helping the COC and collected over 900 items valued at over $2,000!  These items included blankets, towels, personal items, and much, much more.  The local SuperCuts Hair Salon joined our cause by donating over $1,500 worth of hair products and free haircuts!

At our December meeting, the COC joined in our celebration and shared stories about several families who the center was able to help and how the Union Colony Chapter members’ donations will help even more.  We also learned how we can continue to help with ideas from the COC for items needed each month throughout the year.

UCC was proud to give back to the community and help those less fortunate during the holiday season.  What a wonderful way to help our community
