  • Administrative Professionals Week 2008 Theme

FYI: The theme for the 2008 observance of Administrative Professionals Week (April 20-26) is "FORWARD MOVING."

Administrative Professionals Day is Wednesday, April 23, 2008.

Chapters may begin planning APW events and lining up speakers/presenters any time. Holding an educational and/or networking event during APW is a great way to increase awareness of IAAP in local communities.

    Submit Info About Chapter Events
Again this year, an APW event information submittal form will be available beginning in December in the "Members' Place" section of the IAAP website for chapters to enter information about their events. The event information will then be published in a searchable database on the APW/APD page on the international website so site visitors will be able to find chapter-sponsored programs in their area.

You'll find observance suggestions and the latest news and information in the Administrative Professionals Week/Day page of the IAAP website.

    Administrative Professionals Week Commemorative Pin

Each year, the Host Committee for the annual IAAP International Convention and Education Forum offers a special Administrative Professionals Week commemorative lapel pin for sale as a fundraiser to offset expenses involved in hosting our international convention.

The lapel pins are $5 each (U.S. funds only; shipping and handling extra-- see link to order form below). Wearing this pin during Administrative Professionals Week is an excellent "conversation starter" and a great way to support your profession and association.

A printable order form is available here (link also available on the Administrative Professionals Week/Day page of the IAAP website). Contact for pin ordering questions:  Connie Zerangue Depew, e-mail: connie.zerangue@
    shawgrp.com.

Deadline for orders: January 15, 2007. Pins will ship on or before the week of March 17.

Policy on Use of IAAP Sponsor Logos

The IAAP Board of Directors recently approved the "Standards for Appropriate Use of International Sponsor's Name and Logo to Support Local Marketing Activities." The purpose of these standards is to provide IAAP Chapters and Divisions with guidelines on how to position international-level sponsors' names, logos and trademarks in an appropriate manner on local marketing materials, if applicable.

Our corporate partners trust that IAAP will use their trademarks in a manner that will not detract from their brand or image in any way. If you are thinking of using any our sponsors' trademarks in your local marketing materials, please refer to these standards in the creation of your documents. If you have questions regarding the standards please contact the Corporate Relations Department  at IAAP Headquarters for assistance.

    CHAPTER BEST PRACTICES

    Speaking of Speakers

Oftentimes, IAAP chapters don’t give a lot of thought to the program topic that members want covered at a monthly meeting, or who would be the best person to deliver it.

Instead, they look for someone who will do a program (sometimes any program) for free. Needless to say, this is not the best selection process. However, let’s assume that you have surveyed your members, identified a suitable topic, and found someone who is knowledgeable and graciously agrees to present. At that point, what should you do to make sure that the program goes smoothly and members find benefit from the interaction?
