A message from Laurie Cozens, Chair, Committee on Nominations:

I have received many inquiries regarding what the process is to run for an office from the convention floor.  I hope this information is helpful.

  1. The proposed candidate will need to fill out the nomination form completely and accurately and submit it to me (laurie.cozens@pepcoholdings.com) anytime from now until Thursday, July 24.  If you submit this later than Thursday, July 24, you will need to take it to the HQ office in New Orleans by 9:00 AM on July 25.  I will accept nomination forms from now until 9:00 AM, July 25.

  2. Candidates will also need to fill out this form and submit according to the directions on the form itself along with a photo. The information in this form is what will be put on the delegates' chairs at convention.  HQ staff will take care of putting the information on delegates' chairs.  The information on this form mirrors what is in the convention booklet about the other candidates.  The committee is trying to drive consistency in the nominations process.

  3. Those seeking nomination from the floor should please review the bylaws, Article VIII, Section 3, Number 4 (below) and adhere to that.

  4. Approved candidates will need to participate in the candidates' rehearsal on Saturday, July 26.

  5. Approved candidates are required to participate in the new Candidates' Forum where the candidates will have time to talk to the delegates and alternates.  This will be by invitation only and take place on Sunday, July 27.

  6. Approved candidates are required to participate in the Evening of Welcome on Sunday, July 27.

  7. Approved candidates should have a two minute speech ready, if there is more than one candidate running for that particular office.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  It has been a pleasure serving the membership of IAAP this year.
