APD Event 2014
Hosted By: Peel-Halton
Date: Wed, 04/23/2014 - 5:30pm
Program Topic: Protecting Yourself Online... There is more of your formerly private information out there, than most people realize. We have unwittingly posted data on social media and other sites that make us more vulnerable than ever to snooping by government and to attacks from cyber criminals. We have surrendered our privacy in the name of being connected. We’ll see how easy it is to discover information online. So how do you keep criminals from stealing your identity? Email is the nature of our digital communication world right now, and it is just now beginning to address security. Prior to email, if you wanted to send secure information you could put it in a sealed envelope and mail it to the destination. Unless the package was intercepted along the way, it was safe from prying eyes. According to Symantec, one in 437 emails contains a virus… one in 11-hundred is a phishing email. What are the latest cyber security threats? From Cyber Mercenaries to Hactivists to Ransomware to Watering Hole attacks. Do you know how to protect yourself? How serious is the threat to your mobile device?
