Bits & Bytes Article/News Submission Guidelines
Submissions are welcome from members/chapters/divisions/districts. Send news submissions and/or story ideas to Bits & Bytes editor Rick Stroud, e-mail: rstroud@iaap-hq.org.
Author Guidelines: Please use basic "reporting" writing style and be sure to include the basic "who, what, where, when and why" details. See past issues of Bits & Bytes, archived in the "Members' Place" section of the IAAP Web site, for examples of past "Notable News." Also please understand that space is limited and the editor cannot promise anyone that a particular item will be published.

We are looking especially for the following types of news items for IAAP Bits & Bytes:
Exceptional chapter educational or networking programs -- examples of well-attended programs on management skills, technology, effective communication ---- "meaty" professional development programs rather than fluff. Also, programs that drew a significant amount of non-member guests -- and "how to" information on successful event promotions.
Chapters that have been successful in gaining and/or retaining members so far this year. Include information on why the chapter has been successful and marketing/recruiting tips or incentive programs that other chapters might use.
For members who recently achieved their CPS or CAP rating: examples of employer recognition, local media articles, study tips, how achieving certification helped advance your career, gain confidence, and become a more effective contributor to your employer.
Outstanding items written by chapter newsletter editors or contributed by members to chapter newsletters.
Individual honors or awards achieved by IAAP members - employee awards, community service activities, academic achievements, public speaking/presentations on behalf of IAAP.
Examples of successful local publicity/public relations campaigns; local chapter media coverage.
Chapter meeting and operations tips -- examples of streamlining meetings, chapters that have been successful in fostering participation among members (and how they did it), and tips on how to make participation in chapter activities "fun" as well as personally rewarding, while at the same time advancing our association's mission.
Examples of chapters that have built good relationships with local educational institutions -- successful "win/win" partnerships with Student Chapters, teachers, and students. For those who have been successful in attracting significant numbers of student involvement in IAAP, practical "how to" advice on how you did it.
Partnership success stories with local business, government agencies, community groups -- "success story" examples of cooperation in supporting the profession and/or IAAP.
Photos of chapter group activities or other photos of interest. Send photos via e-mail as file attachments in JPEG or BITMAP format in as high-resolution as possible, or send actual photo and we'll scan and convert to digital format here at Headquarters. Include IDs of those pictured and brief explanation of the photo.
Examples of "fun" programs or community service activities which have built a spirit of "connectivity" and camaraderie among chapter members.
