The program will become an eight-week guided learning experience through Learn@IAAP, our online learning platform. Participants will not need to be online at the same time allowing the busy administrative professional to complete the program around their individual work schedule and family commitments.

 

The content of the 2017 OM Specialty will focus on:

·        Organizational Planning

·        Advanced Communication

·        Administration (including supervisory skills)

·        Team Building 

 

The content will be delivered through a combination of readings, videos, and/or podcasts. Participants will interact with each other and a facilitator, which will provide an engaging and social learning experience. There will be assessments every two weeks on specific material (quizzes and writing assignments), and the final assessment will be a culmination of the content learned during the course. To earn the OM certificate of completion, candidates will need to meet specific participation requirements and defined outcomes on all assessments.

 

The goal is for participants to apply the information learned to their specific professional situation with real-world application. The cost for the 2017 OM Certificate Program will be $299 for IAAP members and $429 for nonmembers. This fee will be all inclusive; there are no additional charges for reading materials or assessments.

I wanted to answer a few questions about OM. With regard to recertification, OM doesn't have any requirements since it is a specialty certificate. CAP is currently IAAP's only certification, as such, it requires continued professional development activities to maintain. OM and TA do not have recertification requirements and remain active as long as designees maintain their CAP credential.

The first 8-week cohort will be offered in February 2017. More information coming soon. Updates and the registration process will be posted on the website next month (Sept).
