CAP and Me

I'm behind on my homework already! Here is my story---

I am taking the CAP exam in September, because I believe the certification can help me in my job prospects in the coming years. I actually have a Masters of Divinity degree, and was a minister in the church setting for many years. However, for the past 12 years, I have worked for non-profits.

I am currently the Grants and Office Manager for a small private family foundation (Yes, I give money away for a living!) But the fund is on the edge of not being sustainable for many more years. The board is looking into several different options for the future, some of which entail losing some if not all current staff.

Nobody goes to school to become a grants manager, and those kind of jobs are few and far between in my geographic location, so I figure my best option to create a "parachute" for myself is to bulk up my office management portfolio. Taking the CAP exam is a step in that direction.

While I do have an extensive educational background, it's been years since I've been in school. I also have very little experience in the style of testing that the CAP utilizes. Those two factors are what makes me nervous, and why I take this process very seriously.

Thanks for reading!

I think it's always wise to have a few different skills mastered to make it easier to choose your career direction. Flexibility comes in surprisingly useful in many different jobs. In fact, it often allows you to create your own position!

It's also a good idea to take testing seriously. Makes it much more likely you will prepare yourself well!
