My journey to the becoming a CAP started early in the year after I attended a recommended webinar by Marie Herman. I had hoped to take the test originally last September and obtain the CAP-OM at the same time, but having just switched coasts and service lines at my firm I didn't feel I would have the time to prepare properly. It was always in the back of my mind and knew I would sign up for the CAP test occurring in March of 2017. Honestly if I had know there was a such a certification earlier in my career I would have done it much sooner, specifically, when I was much younger and had more energy and ambition.

I am hopeful that those initials behind my name will make an impression on the Executives I interact with daily in the South. Having transferred to the South from the West coast I have noticed a significant different attitude toward assistants. Unfortunately my progressive and well-known company has established a particular bias toward the assistant in the South. I do not blame the Executives alone, the caliber of administrative support I see is disheartening. It was significantly different for me on the West coast. It has been a very difficult transition for me, but I love my firm.

Looking for gifts of prayers, energy and brain power from my study group, I am going to need it.

I was an admin for more than 10 years before I heard of IAAP. When I joined, I too jumped in feet first to pursue the certification pretty much as soon as I heard about it. :)

How awesome to see you setting the bar high for yourself to show your company what it is all about. Sometimes change has to come from within.

I'm looking forward to sharing the journey with you!
