I recently purchased the Smartbook and started reading through it today. Can someone please explain to me how it works. I realize it highlights areas I need to learn or areas I need to reinforce but how would it know if I just started reading? Are those highlighted areas on the Exam? Also, do I select when I want to 'practice' or does it prompt me to practice when I reach a certain section?

Any guidance or direction you can offer would be appreciated. I want to make sure I get the most out of the book.

Thanks.

Have you watched the tutorial video on this page http://www.iaap-hq.org/?page=GuidePreview It is very helpful and breaks down the SmartBook functions.

After you watch it let me know if you have additional questions.
Barbara

Yes, the yellow highlighted areas are ones that are most relevant/important in that section. Every so often, the guide will pop up suggesting that you check your knowledge with some practice questions. If you answer them correctly, the highlighted areas will turn green to show you have mastered that information.

It took me a little while to get the hang of the smart book. I get the most out of it by reading through the material. When it's grayed out, click on the grayed out material to read it. When it prompts you to practice, practice. If you're unsure about the answer, choose "Read about it" and go back to the question. It will prompt you then to read more when you've answered the questions to a certain point. Mind you, you don't have to do that, you can choose to keep going with the questions if you know them. Once you get through all of the questions, you'll get a message you've completed the section (GREAT feeling!). You can go to reports to see your progress.
