Not that I'm getting ahead of myself or anything.....:-) I was just hopping around the website and was looking at the dates for the next two Summits. I noticed Summit 2019 is from July 18-21, which is Wednesday - Saturday. I recall that Summit was moved from a Sunday - Wednesday to Saturday - Tuesday, and the former CEO said it was in response to feedback from attendees who needed to get back in the office as soon as possible after the conference, so this would give them 2 days after they travel home on Wednesday. So this setup for Wednesday - Saturday caught my eye. My first inclination was to think those were the only days we could get the hotel. So what did prompt that movement? Just curious.

I asked HQ that question in December and was told that they were the only dates they could get for the property they wanted.

Not a fan of the dates personally but I understand the reasoning. I do hope they go back to our current Saturday - Tuesday schedule in 2020. It easily allows me to take off that Thursday and Friday and extend the conference into a vacation.

I'm very disappointed that all the Summits that are booked are in the east. To the best of my knowledge, there hasn't been a Summit in the west since California some time in 2013 or 2012. It is very hard to get buy-in to travel such a distance east for conferences; the time for travel and the cost go up. I do hope past 2022 there will be a Summit in the west.

Summit 2019 in July will be the first Summit that I am attending. For anyone that has attended in the past, can you share with me any recommendations/suggestions I should be thinking of prior to the conference. (i.e., things to do, bring, etc). I want to ensure I make the most of this experience and appreciate any and all feedback.

You will love it, I promise you! And I'm sure others will chime in too! Dress in layers, sometimes the meeting rooms are very cool. Take lots of business cards for networking! Learn and Enjoy! I won't be able to attend this year, but have been to 15 in the past! And hopefully will attend next year in Florida!

Hi Lisa, That is wonderful that you will be attending your first Summit. I remember my first time. It was Anaheim, CA in 2013. I met so many wonderful ladies who remain dear friends to this day! As previously posted, wear layers. Those rooms can be downright freezing! I've even seen some ladies bring pashminas to cover their legs. Also, as mentioned, bring lots of business cards to distribute. Of the cards you receive, write on the back noting where/when you met them. Many people also bring laptops or notebooks. I tend to go old school with my trusty notepad and pen. Ha! Soak it all in. Your head will be swimming with knowledge at the end of each day. It is exhausting, but oh so worth it! No matter how busy in the evenings, I always try to carve out a few minutes to review the notes from each presentation. And of course on the flight home I review and sleep. I am signed up for the Monuments by Moonlight Tour on Friday evening. If that interests you check it out at: https://www.trolleytours.com/washington-dc/night-tours I hope you enjoy Summit as much as I do. I look forward to meeting you.

One recommendation I can make is to jump in with both feet! I went to my first Summit last year and met up randomly with some ladies who put out an invite on the message board for the conference that they were going out for dinner and for anyone who wanted to join them. Although I am pretty shy, I went ahead and met some of the loveliest women. I wished I had done more of those spontaneous things, but will be more open this year. The education was wonderful, but just as wonderful is the interaction with so many diverse, interesting and fun people. Enjoy!
