Greetings! I'm currently enrolled in Marie Herman's CAP Study Group, and she has asked us all to post a little bit about why we've decided to sit for the CAP exam. My personal story starts with having attended the IAAP Summit last summer and getting completely energized by not only the training I received, but by all of you! I retired from the Air Force a few years ago, and went from there to being an Executive Assistant at a not-for-profit organization. What a difference! I've learned a lot on my own and from the other EAs and AAs here in my company, but wanted MORE. IAAP was the perfect solution, and now I want to prove to myself and others that I can not only do this, but excel at it. And having the CAP designation will provide great motivation to keep learning. All professions have mandatory CPE, and I love that we do, too! That says a lot to those outside the administrative profession about who we are.

To All Taking The Certification Exam - Good luck with your goal of attaining CAP certification. You will learn a great deal in your preparation for the exam such as time management, obtaining study resources, etc. No matter what the outcome, there is a sense of accomplishment in achieving the CAP designation. When my results were not what I expected, I challenged myself to take the exam again until I was successful.

Linda L. Rolfe CAP (Ret.), OM
