I just signed up to take the CAP exam in October. That only gives me 2 months to read and study materials. Should I push the exam back to the Spring or is that reasonable amount of time to prepare?

Congratulations on your decision to seek certification for yourself! It really depends on the individual. I know that many recommend a six month study period but one could have years of experience, and cram to refresh those areas maybe not as often utilized, and pass. When I joined IAAP, I had several people tell me to sit for the CAP right away because "you will surely pass" but I had younger children at home, and a full-time job, and did not want to risk failure because I am pretty hard on myself when I do. So, I waited and the right time came for me and I passed. So, consider where you are on time, find peace, then set your date to sit and start studying.

Kristina, I would highly recommend joining a study group to prepare. The group I joined was from January to early April and I tested mid-April. It was a very grueling regimen and required hours and hours of reading/studying each week. But in the end, it was well worth it. I know for myself, 2 months wouldn't have been enough time to study for each domain in the depth that's required to pass the exam. Good luck!
