Hi everyone! I have been in some sort office management or administrative rolls as far back as I can remember. I never knew there was a certification and passion for the Administrative Professional community until I started to work for my current company, Anthem. Through our Administrative Learning Group calls each week, I no longer felt like a tiny island in the middle of nowhere. My company promotes learning and growth, and 2 years ago, I became PACE certified (recently renewed with my CEU's)....and then I discovered IAAP and all that was was available for education and community, and I became a voracious reader of all things admin. I had the honor to be able to attend the IAAP conference with 22 of my other admin tribe from Anthem in 2019, and the world opened even wider for me as I networked and found other tribe members from around the globe. One of my mentors had recently become CAP certified, and after having attended the conference, I knew I had to as well.

My goal is to be a true strategic partner with my executive and his team of leaders....this does not happen by remaining stagnate, resting on our laurels. Via IAAP's CAP certification, I hope to apply all that I learn to be an even stronger member of my team and a valuable contributor...one my executive cannot live without. Honestly, a bump in pay or title would be nice as well, but knowledge cannot ever be taken away from me. I registered for Marie Herman's study group, and used the time over the holidays to read through the study guide a couple of times, and am setting 30-60 minutes aside daily to study. Four other admins from Anthem are also registered and we are setting up a weekly Webex to get our heads together and to be accountable to one another. So excited to be embarking on this journey!
