I have been an Administrative / Executive Assistant for over 25 years and have been very happy and proud of my profession. Although I do not have a college degree, throughout my career, I have continued to develop and enhance my skills through online learning, mentoring, coaching, and various workshops and seminars. Unfortunately, most people do not consider administrative support as a profession, and while most employers require administrative support staff to include career development as part of the annual performance goals, it is not mandatory. Which brings me to IAAP and becoming a Certified Administrative Professional. IAAP is accredited recognized for it stringent testing and certification process and ongoing educational program. Although I had heard of IAAP since 2015, I was encouraged to sit for the exam by my coworkers at my current employer, when I started work a year ago. Three within the organization have received either their CAP or CAP-OM. I am excited to have this opportunity to join their ranks and obtain official professional certification. This would be a great highlight of my career.
