As a career admin, I haven't spent much time thinking about certification until recently. Even though I have worn many hats over the years, I am an administrative professional at heart. I believe devoting the time and resources it takes to obtain this certification speaks volumes to my dedication to the profession and to my growth.

Some of the benefits for me are:
1. Learning new material is energizing for me. Over time, I find myself thinking a little differently. The smallest shifts in perception can make a big difference in my day-to-day experience.
2. I am forced to develop the discipline it takes to do the work needed to accomplish the goal (certification). That discipline will continue to benefit me after the exam.
3. There's no guarantee it will have an immediate benefit in my current work environment, but I am in it for the long game. "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity."
4. The emotional and psychological benefit of knowing I worked hard to achieve a challenging goal will improve my mental game. That's worth the "price of admission."
5. By the time I take the exam, I will have worked from home one full year, and I want to return to the office feeling like I made good use of the extra time I saved by not commuting, etc.

I'm glad to be part of a study group which provides a framework which makes achieving the goal possible. I don't expect it to be easy and I'm still adjusting. I know I am not alone in this endeavor.
