Hello Fellow Admins,

From Chicago to Houston, I have been an administrative professional for over 20 years in various industries. Currently, I am an executive assistant to a CFO for a non-profit/governmental agency in the Houston, TX area. Back in 2011, while working full-time, I went back to school, online, full-time to complete my Associates degree in Human Resource Management, which was a personal goal of mine. So I have not taken an exam in a while. Although I have known about IAAP and CAP, in the past I was not able to work towards it due to support, time and personal problems. Now I have the support of my family, my boss, and my own determination to complete it.

Completing my CAP designation is another personal and professional goal of mine. I added completing the CAP to my performance evaluation to ensure I complete it soon. I have been nervous and anxious about completing the exam and this journey, but I am determined to work past that. Completing the CAP serves to prove to myself and employers that I am proud to be an admin, that I enjoy learning and that I am invested towards my professional growth. I also hope to motivate my fellow admins at work to reach for this achievable goal. Completing this journey will not only help me see what I already know, it will also help me learn new skills and knowledge that I can use.

To my fellow Spring 2021 CAP designees, together we can do this. I wish all of you the best.
