This guided session helps you connect your professional development goals—leadership growth, skill-building, education, or networking—to the IAAP programs currently available to support those priorities. We’ll provide a clear overview of how each program aligns to different areas of growth, so you can better understand which options fit where you are and where you want to go.

Participants will learn how programs like Aspire, CAPstone, and Summit serve different development needs and how they can work together over time. You’ll leave with greater clarity, practical context, and a stronger understanding of how IAAP programs support intentional professional development planning.

This session may also feature brief insights from members who have participated in IAAP programs, sharing firsthand perspectives on their experience and impact.

In this session, we’ll cover:

  • An overview of CAPstoneSummit, and Aspire, and how each supports different professional development goals

  • How to choose the right program based on whether you’re focused on leadership, skills, education, or networking

  • What IAAP credentials and terms mean, including:

  • CAP (Certified Administrative Professional)

  • CAP Expert

  • CAPstone Specialty Certificates (and how they differ from certification)

  • How programs can work together over time as part of a longer-term development plan

  • Key resources available to support your decision-making, including program brochures and Making the Case documents

  • Practical tips and tools for asking your manager for support and advocating for your professional development
