Prepare for Sept. 2016 CAP Exam

Hi All,

I am new to IAAP and will be taking the Sept. CAP Exam. I was wondering if anyone that has taken the test before and passed what books or other suggestions you have that are helpful for studying? I really want to pass the exam on the first go around and just want to be prepared.

Thank You!

Hello! Congratulations on your decision to pursue certification.

I have put together a page with some helpful information for people planning to sit for the exam. You might want to check it out. It includes the books I recommend for people that are self studying.

I plan to expand on this page in the future, at some point in time.

Self-study for CAP Examination

Congratulations on making the leap to study for the CAP.  If you are self-studying and not joining a study group, I would be remiss if I didn't suggest you check out Horizon Presentations.  It comes with a comprehensive set of textbooks covering the topics in the exam, self-study guides to guide your study, an Action Plan Guide (i.e. lesson plan), fast fact flash cards, digital review game, PowerPoint videos, and many other student materials.

There will be a full (hard copy) set available for bidding at the Silent Auction at Summit, but that may not be soon enough to start studying.

Good afternoon,

Welcome to IAAP. I applaud your decision to sit for CAP in September. There are many ways to prepare for certification exams and which you chose depends upon your unique learning style.

A good starting point is the IAAP CAP Study Guide. It takes the CAP Body of Knowledge and expands on it, in addition to providing study tips and a competency assessment.

No one source will completely prepare you for CAP, however if you start with a solid guide to the exam subject-matter, a dedicated study schedule, and additional resources (textbooks, study groups, etc), you will set your self up for success.

Best wishes,
Barbara
