Challenge to the CAP from Japan
Nice to meet you. I'm writing this from Japan. I decided to challenge the CAP exam and has joined Ms. Marie Herman's group this winter. This exam is called "Beikoku Hisho Kentei" in Japanese, which means a "Certification test for secretaries in America". We have a certification test for secretaries in Japan, so at first, I expected that the CAP exam requests me the knowledge as same as the test in Japan. However, I was surprised because it is quite different between them. Now, I'm reading a textbook, I understood that the knowledge of the CAP is very useful for not only secretaries but also any office workers. As I'm working at a university as an administrative staff now (I was a secretary in the private sector a few years ago), I'm interested in every content in the textbook. However, the worst weak point for me is my poor English skills...I'm desperate to write this topic. Of course, my reading speed is slow. So, I'd like to challenge this exam in order to improve every skill needed for my career and never give up to achieve my object no matter how long it takes. Due to the time difference, I cannot attend the study group's sessions on time, which is very lonely, but I will do my best with the support that there are a lot of people making efforts for the CAP all over the world. Thank you for your support!

It can be a challenge when English is not your first language, but I can definitely say I have had students from several countries work their way through the materials and ultimately pass. It can be done, even if it ends up taking more than once. You have got this! Just stay focused.

I've just checked my result on the webassessor, I passed!!! It's miracle! When I decided to challenge the test, I had no idea that I would pass the exam in one sitting. However, it is only my first step to be a global secretary. I would like to continue to do my best in everything.

Special thanks to Ms. Herman. You are a great teacher!
