Fall 2025 CAP Study Group
Why would someone who has been in the administrative profession for a combined 30+ years decide to become CAP certified? I say, why not! It is something that I have wanted to do for a long time. But as we all know, life takes over; family, raising children, sickness, and the list goes on. Now is my time. Time to put all my years of experience to the test. Time to put away my fear of failing. Time to expand my knowledge base. Time to achieve a goal. I know this journey is not going to be easy. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy. It is going to take commitment, hard work, perseverance, time-management, and faith in the process. My time is now, my why is now, I'm jumping in and not looking back. To all my study group friends - you got this! One small step each day will take you where you want to go.

I love this, Dorothy!  Congratulations to you for embarking on your CAP certification journey!  You've absolutely got this, and I can't wait to see your "I passed" post!

@Dorothy, I say the same things when I keep setting Professional/Personal Development goals.  I have had individuals say why are you going this or that.  I tell them I want to keep improving.  I am taking two Self-pace Excel courses right now so I can be more knowledgeable and get better at creating formales.

Congratulations, Dorothy. I started my certification pathway at age 43, after my last child graduated from high school and started college. I also went back to college with a goal of achieving my Bachelor degree before age 50. I was working full time and going to school in the evening. I reached my goal -- both goals. It was a very different exam back in the 1980s and I learned so much about subjects I had not encountered in the workplace. They came in very handy in other places and even in some of the future positions I held. I have been retired for a long time but keep my certification active. You will be great!

Congratulations! I too was a 30+ year admin and was in my mid-50's when I earned my CAP!  It's been one of the best career decisions I've ever made! Wishing you success in your certification journey!

Congratulations! I wish now I'd done the CAP certification, but only a year out from retirement.
