Thank you and your team for the update and for working so diligently on the scoring process, Elizabeth White-Peters. Can you share how many took the April 2018 CAP exam? Also, I've seen two different statements on how the results are sent (mail and email). Can you clarify this as well? Thank you so much!

I want to let today's candidates know how lucky they are in that they receive their notification in the 30-45 day range. Back in dark ages, when I first sat for certification, we took the exam in May and were lucky to know by the end of August or sometime in September our results. Yes, the exam was very different then. It included an in-basket exercise and everything was graded by hand. Results were not released until all exams had been mailed back into HQ and graded. So, compare 30-45 days versus 4-5 months and relax.

What does "test" questions mean? It is very frustrating.

In this day and age when you complete a multiple choice test, it is hard to fathom why it would take so long to receive results. I think if IAAP had a better description of how the tests are scored it would help alleviate a lot of peoples anxieties. The only thing they provide is a page that defines Criterion referenced scoring method and compares it to a drivers license exam. When I took my drivers license exam, I either walked out with my license, or I didn't. I didn't wait 30-45 days for my multiple choice answers to be graded.

If further analysis of my test is required other than how many answers are correct, and how many are not, I think it is only appropriate that that criteria be explained in the scoring method. That also does not seem to fit the definition of the Criterion referenced scoring method.

My two cents...

Hi Krystyna,

I understand your frustration...I was hoping for my results before May 31st. But, I have to say, their testing method is not to far off. For my masters degree, I sat for the CPCE, the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Exam, and had to wait 30 days for my results. Similar to the CAP, my passing score was not based on a strict percentage and my overall performance had to be evaluated by my academic department before my degree was conferred. Also, many certification exams imbed test questions to evaluate the viability of testing material in new rounds of testing (this is a standard practice...the bummer...if you get them right...they don't always count toward your score.)

As for the evaluation portion of the exam, take a look at the 2017 CAP Executive summary...it gives insight on why the extend review is necessary: https://c.ymcdn.com/sites/www.iaap-hq.org/resource/resmgr/docs/pdf/Executive_Summary_Fall_2017_.pdf

Also: At the CAPStone Boot Camp, we learned this extended process of evaluation could be beneficial...especially if the majority found difficulty with certain questions (maybe a few bonus points...who would turn that down right?!)

But, again, I understand you frustration with the disconnect (HQ and CAB quoted different deadlines for score notification.) But, this was the largest class ever....so some recalibrating had to be done to benefit us all in the long run.

So, just a few more days more....tough...but we can get through this together...with lots of chocolate!!

Sending you mad vibes of "You've Got This!" #comeon500!
