Apparently I've been under a rock and did not realize the re certification process has changed. I have over 60 hours banked for what I thought was a Jan 2020 recert period. I see I've been changed to November of 2020. I've sent a couple of questions. I've entered 36 hours of points into portal, which still show 36 of 60. Also do training hours have to be in last three years of recert period or asked another way will my training hours go stale? I would have 2016 training points in a 2023 recert application. Schedule and work issues permitting I am considering Summit next year which would cover my hours for 2023 recert if current banked hours would be allowed. It also appears we can't recertify early any longer, six months out only.

You are correct in that we can no longer recertify once we have the required points. This was part of the accreditation process in which the time requirement was changed from six years to three years and the number of points reduced. I am currently working on organizing data for input dating back to my last recertification in 2015. I had been on a three-year recertification plan until the rules changed with accreditation. It may be inconvenient for me but I would do nothing to endanger the program. As far as I now, all of my points dating back to my last recertification will be good. Yes, there is a time-frame in which you can submit your recertification application.

I've seen a lot of changes in the certification program since I joined the association in 1980 and a lot of changes in the recertification program since its inception. I've lived through them all and found they have improved both programs.

Assuming you are finishing up a five year recertification, your points can come from any time during that five year period. You would not be able to use 2016 points for your 2023 recertification. Those points would need to be earned between Dec. 1, 2020 and your 2023 deadline.

If your recert date is November of 2020, then I think the points earned for Summit 2020 would not be able to be applied toward your 2023 recertification since you are earning them prior to your November date; they would be included when you recertify in November of 2020.

I forgot to mention in my first posting that I did read in the recertification information that all recertifications will align with the exam dates so there will only be two times a year you may recertify and that will depend on your certification date. It just so happens mine aligns with the spring exam.
