Absolutely those skills that you gained as a volunteer are valid. It is a shame that more companies do not recognize the value of those positions and the skills honed there. Best of luck with the exam and the job search. When you do find that company that values your volunteer experience, it will probably be a fantastic company for which to work.

I admire your positive attitude, and I am sure you will be successful in attaining the certification designation. Also, thank you for all the "volunteer" work you have done. Being a volunteer is a wonderful learning experience.
