Workplace Violence: A Proper Understanding and an Effective Response

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), workplace violence is a growing concern among employers and employees nationwide. Some 2 million American workers are victims of workplace violence each year. It can strike anywhere, and no one is immune. It’s been said that knowledge is power, but we believe it goes much further than that. When it comes to workplace violence, knowledge brings not only power, but comfort, and empowerment.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Define and understand the four types of workplace violence
  • Define and understand the various phases of a particular workplace violence event
  • Understand the role that effective communication plays in preventing or minimizing workplace violence
  • Define and understand the four types of mental awareness that can help them stay safe while on the job
