Practice Exam Question

I purchased and took the official practice exam (the first attempt; I'll take the second closer to the exam). The result was given in number of correct questions, and as a percentage.

Does anyone know how this compares to the "scaled score" of 500 needed to pass on the actual exam? I understand that criterion-reference exams are not set in stone, but it's hard for me to grasp what kind of numbers I should aim for.

Hello Katie,

The scoring on the practice exam is as close as we can get to the scaled scoring for the actual exam. I tell candidates, when they need to think about a number when preparing, to shoot for over 75% correct but the actual number varies per testing cohort depending on the level of difficulty. This is why we use the criterion-referenced grading process to account for shifts in difficulty level.

I hope this is helpful.
