Spring 2018 Exam & Study Group
I’ve been in the industry for over 10 years and a member for 3. I’ve known about certification but wasn’t sure how it would be valued in the Canadian marketplace and hesitated to sit the exam. Then it dawned on me that I’m truly passionate about what I do and I believe the administrative profession should be taken seriously and that was reason enough to sit the exam. I’m tired of the stigma that is attached to our profession. I’m tired of people belittling administrative roles and treating our profession as if our roles are unimportant. I want to prove that admins are professionals who deserve the same type of respect as the executives they are supporting because we are their right and left hands and if it wasn’t for us, some of them really wouldn’t know what to do with certain daily tasks. I’m sitting this exam in hopes of gaining more recognition and also to show others, including the younger generation, that we are valued and highly skilled people. I am enrolled in Marie Herman’s study group and will be dedicating the next 13 weeks to doing all the readings and reading a bit of the study guide every night.
