This is for me!
Why am I working for my certification? I’m doing it for myself. I spent eighteen years as a wife and mother, many of those while my first husband was in the Navy. I had a few temporary admin jobs here and there while he was out to sea but I primarily devoted myself to my family. Once I was divorced I needed a job so I worked my way up from part time receptionist to an admin role. Twice. It hasn’t been easy! The company I am with now values my contributions and it was not until I landed here that I realized that I have much more than just a job. I have a career. A career that I am proud of and work that I am proud of. My children are grown now and I wanted to take this year and really reach to see how far I could push myself. I wanted to move out of my comfort zone and expand my education. I signed up for a local conference with IAAP and decided to strive toward my certification. I’m doing this for myself, for my own growth. I am scared and overwhelmed. I can’t count how many times over the last week I’ve asked myself “what the HELL did I get myself into?!” I am full of self-doubt, the imposter syndrome is strong. But all I can do is take one day at a time and try to do my best work. I know there is a great group involved in Marie’s study group who have ALREADY been supportive and helpful. We share a bond now and we will get each other through the next few months!

Proud of you. As a person from many members in my family in military, including my husband, it is not easy and you are usually last on the list. Doing for your self is a much needed skill we tend to lose! Smile I am studying for the Fall 2020 exam too and I know you will do great! Set your sights and let nothing stop you!!!
