Pursuing the CAP
As of March, I am furloughed from my job in the Waikiki hospitality industry where I served as an administrative manager and the executive assistant to the Chief Operating Officer. While waiting to go back to work, I have taken several online courses to sharpen my skills. One of the most interesting and relevant courses that I am taking this summer is the CAP Exam Prep Course. This allows me the perfect opportunity to take advantage of precious free time to study for the CAP exam in the fall. After the CAP exam, I look forward to reaping the benefits and becoming eligible to take the CAPstone specialty certificate courses that focus on leadership development, project management, and record management. This is the second time around for me in furthering my administrative career. I had originally taken the CPS exam and passed during the 1990s. Regrettably, I had not pursued recertification when changing careers. I also serve as the Oahu Branch Director for the Hawaii Region and enjoy organizing C&C meetings and educational opportunities for our members and the community. With the help of our Kauai Branch and Regional Director, we have been able to provide several educational opportunities and "Connections and Conversations" get-togethers for our members through Zoom meetings.

Sorry to hear you being furloughed. Being an IAAP member, allows you to reach out during these difficult times to seek employment and expand your global network. Best of luck in your certification journey.
