Good luck everyone!!
The life of a full-time working (step)mom of three sometimes feels like a fast train that doesn't stop. You work, you run a household, and then there is little time left for yourself. The past five years, ever since I moved from the Netherlands to the US, I have been so focused on work that there was almost no time to work on my capabilities. This is in contrast to a few years ago; because previously I spent a lot of time on training.
Up to a couple of weeks ago, I have been working from home since mid-March. During one of the many webinars (which I finally had time for lol), I had a 'eureka' moment; I registered with ASAP and IAAP the same day! I obtained my PACE certification within about a month and then immediately registered for the CAP exam in the fall of 2020. Although the PACE certification was a good start for me personally, there is a significant difference in studying for the CAP certification. The study material is discussed in-depth, and I learn something new during each new chapter. That's why I signed up with Marie Herman's study group, and I am so glad I did. Marie is to the point and explains the topics very well!
I am one of the lucky people who kept her job during COVID19. But when this all is over, I want to be an improved version of myself. I am convinced that obtaining my CAP certification is an excellent way to show my current and future employer(s) that I take my career and development seriously.
I haven't had to study that much since college LOL, but I find the material very interesting. To all my fellow study group members: I hope we will all pass our exam in the fall. Good luck, everyone!

I think it is wise to always assume that no job is safe. Continual self development keeps our brains young and our spirits engaged in the workplace. I'm so glad you are going for the CAP certification and that you are allowing me to share the journey with you! See you tonight!

Yes, this is my life. However, I try to carve out some me time. I make an appointment with myself and I let my family know what I'm doing. It's important to do this. You need time to destress and to invest in yourself. It can be tricky, but it's not impossible. Communication with your loved ones is key.

@ Linda, that's a certification offered by another professional association. It was a good start but I really wanted to learn more and dig deeper. CAP was the logical next move for me! And I am so glad I signed up. I do have to admit that it would be very hard without the guidance and support of a trainer and study group so kudos to Marie :-) Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
