Aloha e....CAP Spring 2021!
Aloha, My name is Jeri Ann Poti and I am excited to begin my CAP Certification journey in 2021. I am co-Branch Director of the 'Oahu IAAP along with Nancy Azeri who just passed her CAP in October. I have been an Administrative Assistant since i went to Business College in 1985 in various professional offices over the course of my 30+ years career here in Hawai'i. I went back to school in 2007 and received my AS in Accounting and have been an employee of Kapi'olani Community College in the University of Hawai'i system for over 14 years. My current job title is Secretary to the Dean of Arts & Sciences in the Academic Affairs office under the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. I want to give myself and other administrative assistants a sense of pride for their work at the campus, Student Success is Everyone's Kuleana (Responsibility). I hope to show others that being an administrative support person is more about supporting our executive admin team, but it's about being part of the whole picture. In addition I currently serve on several roles including the the Kapi'olani CC Alumni and Friends Executive Committee, KCC Student Success Thrive, HGEA (AFSCME) Union Shop Steward and Chair-Elect of our Kapi'olani CC Staff Council. I am currently the Professional Development Vice Chair on our Staff Council and have been looking for ways to encourage staff ever since I was nominated as a CCLC (Community College Leadership Champion from 2018-2019). If we continue to educate ourselves it will elevate all of us. The CAP Certification covers of all aspects of professional knowledge that we all can benefit from greatly in our current job and future job possibilities. With all that 2020 has brought on, I'm confident that the CAP will enable me to rise to a new level of professionalism in our current job and step in where there is a need to work together as a TEAM. KULIA I KA NU'U (Strive for the Highest!)
