Studying for and Sitting for Spring 2022 CAP Exam
Hi, All! I'm excited to say that I've started the process of studying for the Spring 2022 CAP Exam with Marie Herman's study group! It's a bit intimidating because I'm not young, but with Marie's help and encouragement and that of my fellow "Grasshoppers" and a lot of hard work, I believe I will make it! I'm grateful for my boss's support in his agreeing to pay for the application and study guide and study group. But the company for which I work is not one that really values the contribution of the admin so there will not be any increase in salary or bonus as motivation once I certify. So, I'm doing this for myself. As I went through the CAP BOK Assessment in the first chapter of the study guide I was struck by how many of the skills and concepts I could check that I could identify, but also by how few I could comfortably say I could demonstrate or describe. What I believe that told me is that I probably do many of those things but can't really prove that I do them. So, this will help me prove that I'm not an imposter. I have strong skills and I know what I contribute in my job and to my executive's success. And, there are many who have told me so over the years. I hope though that this will help more see that this is an actual profession and I've made a difference. Not just something I'm doing because I couldn't do anything else. So, wish me luck! I appreciate any and all the encouragement I can get! Leah ;)

Congratulations Leah on taking that first big step towards your personal goal! I cannot say enough about Marie Herman and her study group. Enjoy the process and the peaks and valleys and you will come out much stronger than when you started.

Congrats on making the decision to go for certification! I just passed my exam in the Fall. I too and not young, but with Marie's guidance, I was able to push through, believe in myself and be successful. I also did it for myself, no expectations of a promotion or salary increase. You can do this!

Good luck and congratulations on choosing to take the journey. I am a fellow "grasshopper"; feeling excited but also moments of "omg, what did I sign myself up for". We can do this!

You never know what life holds for you. This is a worthy challenge and it pays off in many ways. It may not show up in your present job, but it lays the groundwork for growth throughout the rest of your career. I am glad you are doing it for yourself, though. That is the very best reason to do it. Obviously I am a huge believe in lifelong learning. It is for OUR benefit just as much as any company I work for.
