Putting a CAP on My Administrative Career
My "why" for undertaking the CAP certification process is directly related to my job. The organization I support includes continuous learning among its core values, so all employees are required to set professional development goals at the beginning of each year. I'm a lifelong learner so earning the CAP credential is no-brainer for me as the natural next step in the development and advancement of my administrative career.
Over the years, I've tried my hand at other types of work- IT project management, insurance sales, and work as an entrepreneur and independent contractor. None of these was as good a fit or nearly as stimulating as administrative work has been. Although it wasn't my intention to make administrative work my chosen profession, it comes naturally to me and I truly enjoy it. It's high time that I call it what it is... MY CAREER.. and strive to be the most competent and successful administrative professional possible!
