Hi Barbara,

Thanks for giving us the link for the Recertification Handbook.
It appears from the Handbook (but wasn't specified?) that taking a public enrollment class from an established qualified training provider does NOT need to be pre-approved by IAAP HQ for Recertif credit, as long as the class clearly meets the Recert requirements. Is this correct?

I have a couple more questions, I'll send separately. Thanks in advance for your kind clarifications.

In the Handbook, there seems to be an overlap in the rules for how to calculate Recert points for public enrollment training classes - could you clarify for this example?

Computer Magic Training offers 6 CPE's on our Certificate of Completion for a 6-hour training class, which (after subtracting breaks) is 5.5 hours of actual training time.
-- On page 5, the Handbook says that seminars/programs/workshops provide 1 point for every 60 minutes of training, which would be 5.5 points for this class.
-- On page 7, the Handbook says 6 CPE's would equal 5.0 points for the same class.

Which calculation rule would take precedence?

Thanks again!

In your earlier message and on page 12 of the Handbook, the percentages are specified for each category (IAAP CAP Domains).
-- Does this mean that a member cannot exceed that percentage in their overall Recert Points? Meaning, for example, a member can't have more than 25% of their total Recert points fulfilled by Organization Communication training - and that if they had excess percentage points in one category, those excess points could not apply toward Recertification? And that all 7 categories must be covered by their training in each minimum percentage in order to Recertify?

Many thanks for your support.

Does having a CAP and OM no longer provide 5 points each toward recertification? Back when I recertified the first time in 2011, they counted. I cannot find a line on the current spreadsheet for the certifications. If this was changed when the certification process was updated, then I believe those who where certified at that time should be allowed to add the 5 points each to our spreadsheet one last time as acknowledgement of our dedication to certification.

Is there someone I can contact to have them take a look at my recertification submission form before I officially submit it? I want to make sure what I'm submitting qualifies. Thank you.

Ms Weathers - I now need to work on my re-certification and wanted to know what the Microsoft MOS certification points would be. I know we submit on line now but have no idea what to list for the points when I do complete and submit them.

Hi, Tammy,

Barbara is no longer with IAAP. Each MOS certification is worth 5 recertification points.

Please feel free to email the certification department at certification@iaap-hq.org with further questions.

Thank you!
