Discovering IAAP What an Epic Journey To Date!
Writing Smart Goals for an Administrative Professional can be somewhat daunting considering most of our daily, yet definitely not mundane routine falls under the domain of 'tasks'. Posed with the question of what my next year's goals and development plan was, I started to research what my options were and I discovered IAAP. I became a member at the end of December 2015 and my goal primarily was to sit the CAP Examination in September 2016. I have subsequently decided to submit an application next week for the OM Examination in September 2016 as well!
I joined a study group this past week to assist with the upcoming exams, which I am extremely excited about. I feel these certifications will 'set us apart' from the majority and demonstrate our personal desire and ability to excel in the field of professionalism.
I had the opportunity to attend an IAAP conference earlier this year. The speaker was brilliant and I was so enthralled with her that when we hosted a company leadership meeting we requested she come and speak to our team. The speaker made such an impact on my boss and our team that they want her to come back and meet with other teams!
I believe IAAP and the CAP certification can open doors to opportunities and a network of learning and support for Administrative Professionals more than any other that I know of.
As much as it is scary to 'go back to school' after many years, I'm fearful of the regret of not trying - so ultimately determination and the will to succeed wins!
