My CAP Journey has been long......
Hello,
I have been serving in an administrative capacity
throughout my work experience, which started in the U.S. military in 1990. I
was an administrative specialist for the majority of my 10 years on active
duty. I have had the administrative skill sets for a while and have kept up
with evolving technology over the years. However, my CAP journey did not
actually start until late 2015. I came across the website and saw the opportunity
for certification and immediately knew I wanted to attain it.
I was so eager that got everything ready: paid
for the membership, filled out the application w/supporting docs, paid the exam
fees (to include late fee), bought study materials & the 2016 CAP Exam
Study Guide!! I joined Marie’s 03-2016 study group and had planned to sit for
the March 2016 CAP exam but was unable to regularly listen to the Tuesday night
calls, focus on reading the materials, or study enough to be confident in my ability
to pass.
Life threw some challenges my way and achieving
this certification no longer became a priority. I requested for the extension
to take the exam in Sep 2016--which was granted—and I just knew I was going to
make a concerted effort that time around. Well, it also did not work out like I
planned.
I then had to submit another CAP application
and paid the full fees to retake the exam in March 2017. After almost $1000.00
that I have paid towards this goal, I believe I am NOW determined to make a great
effort to pass this time! Although I am not a big participator in the chat
sessions/conversations that take place in our study group, I do get a lot out of reading
the chats and answers to the questions the other group members ask. I have my
materials and would love if someone near Boston, MA is looking for a study buddy!
So here I go again on this journey……
