Why I'm Excited to take the CAP Exam
Greetings! I'm currently enrolled in Marie Herman's CAP Study Group, and she has asked us all to post a little bit about why we've decided to sit for the CAP exam. My personal story starts with having attended the IAAP Summit last summer and getting completely energized by not only the training I received, but by all of you! I retired from the Air Force a few years ago, and went from there to being an Executive Assistant at a not-for-profit organization. What a difference! I've learned a lot on my own and from the other EAs and AAs here in my company, but wanted MORE. IAAP was the perfect solution, and now I want to prove to myself and others that I can not only do this, but excel at it. And having the CAP designation will provide great motivation to keep learning. All professions have mandatory CPE, and I love that we do, too! That says a lot to those outside the administrative profession about who we are.

Hi, My name is Melinda Boyette and currently enrolled in Marie Herman's Study group. I have always wanted to be CAP Certified. I recently obtained the MOS 2016, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I want to prove to myself that I can do this, and remain relevant in the Admin Profession.

@Melinda_Boyette - Congratulations on earning your MOS 2016 in Word, Excel, & PowerPoint and for now adding the CAP to your goals. Best wishes with your studies. We can't wait to celebrate with you once you've added those three letters behind your name!

@ Melinda Boyette - You stated that you recently started college and working on your CAP. How do you juggle both of those things? Getting my CAP is on the list, but I've been concerned about doing both at the same time.

Thank you for your service in the Air Force. That is also the branch my husband was in many, many years ago. I have a good high school friend who chose the Navy after high school graduation because she said she wasn't prepared to take care of herself. That was in the day when women didn't consider military service as their first choice. As with your choice to enter military service, your choice to take Marie's class in preparation for the CAP exam was a good one. Your choice to sit for the exam also falls into that category. I look forward to seeing a posting after the exam so you can share with us what you thought about the whole process. I did the testing in the dark ages but love keeping up with what is going on today.
