Sitting for the CAP Exam
I am going to be taking the CAP exam this fall. I actually passed the CPS exam back in 1997. Back then, there was no recertification requirement. Then I was busy with my infant twins and anything work-related was very far from my mind. Since returning to full-time work after my kids were a bit older, I have thought about obtaining the CAP again. I recently became the Milwaukee LAN director and I keep seeing all of these emails from people with those lovely letters after their name. Between that and the CAP designation becoming officially accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies, I decided to take the plunge again. I want to be seen as a leader in the administrative field and show people that I am serious about my chosen profession. I feel confident I can pass again!

Hi Kate, congratulations on becoming the Milwaukee LAN director. You can do this...if you can handle twins, you can handle this!

I passed the CPS exam what seems like 100 years ago and have been told that the designation is still valid and I don't have to take the test again. I earned the OM designation a couple years ago and the PM designation at CAPStone 2018. I believe your certification is still valid and would check into it if I were you. I try to stay current by taking advantage of the excellent training, webinars, seminars etc. that IAAP offers.

I also took the CPS back in 2001, and sat and passed the CAP a few years ago.  Wishing you the best!
