My journey to CAP certification in autumn 2018
Hi, I’m Jun Ohno, the executive assistant to CEO of a worldwide logistics company in Tokyo. I found CAP exam when I passed a similar exam called CBS (Certified Bilingual Secretary) organized by Japan Secretaries & Administrative Professionals Association. CBS and CAP are similar, but CAP covers more domains. That's why I tried CAP, but I failed in autumn 2017 because I studied with three thick text books alone (maybe). Then I wanted to try it again in 2018 differently.
I found a CAP study group by Ms. Marie Herman this spring, and I have learnt a lot of things from her class for three months and it was helpful for the exam as well as my career.
First, I was surprised about the amount of reading materials. I have never read that volume in English for short term. That was good additional exercise for non-English speakers like me. I read the materials again and again and again...To be honest, I had to secure more time for studying. I had new boss this July, so time management was difficult, but it was just my excuse. If you decide to try CAP, you must spare your time for CAP as much as possible. It was very important, but please do not cut your sleeping time! This is my tip.
I also shared on LinkedIn that I took CAP exam, and then my ex-coworker in Denmark found me and he said, “Very interesting. I will be in Tokyo next month. Could be fun to meet up!” This my CAP journey provided a good networking as well! I hope I can share next month, "I made it!"

I will be taking the CAP exam in Spring of 2019 and would love to connect with a study group. I am brand spanking new member here and am still trying to navigate the site. Is there a place where I can find that information? Please advise. Thank you!

Hi Jun, we were in the same online study group, hosted by Marie. I sat for the CAP exam on September 27. Hopefully both of us will share good news in November.

Hi Jun! Marie's class was great...and I do agree it was a lot of reading (even for us that read in English on a daily basis!) But it was well worth all that I have learned. I'm sure you did great! Can hardly wait for the results to come out.
Thank you,
