CAP Exam - Spring 2019
Hello! My name is Tammy Barta and I live in Lawrence, Kansas - home of the University of Kansas and the Jayhawks!!
I joined IAAP several years ago and have been toying with sitting for the exam for a while, however, I was working on three associates degrees at the time, and didn't feel I had enough time to devote to studying for CAP as well. Since I finished my degrees last Spring, I decided to take a brain break and then choose my next goal - which is the CAP. After finishing CAP, I plan to go back to complete my Bachelors degree.
I currently took a new job at the University and am VERY happy with my change. I have been here for 30 years and while I think I know a lot about the tasks in CAP, I know there are new things for me to learn and to sharpen the skills I already have.
During the next few months, I am taking Marie Herman's CAP Study Group. I feel with her help, all the reading material and applying what I'm learning along the way - will be my biggest advantage for sitting for the exam.
While I am terrified to take this exam, I need to remind myself that I have sat for many exams during my coursework, and this is yet another step in my achievements. I will have to use the same techniques for my anxiety as I did for school. While I would absolutely retake the exam if I didn't pass, and know I would be very sad for a while, I know I can do this. I can do it with my knowledge, devotion to the goal, my study group friends, Marie, and my other IAAP friends who have successfully achieved this goal.
So - I've buckled up my seat belt for this new challenge! Wishing all sitting this Spring Good Luck!!!!
Tammy Barta
