Starting my CAP exam journey....
About 18 months ago, I attending an admin conference in OKC. Once of the speakers brought up IAAP and suggested we Google it when we got back to the office. Well, of course I did and I was in awe. I knew right then and there I wanted to take the exam and soar to new heights. I took the info directly to my director and assistant director who were almost as excited as I was. Surprisingly they sent me to Summit last July and then I was really fired up to take the exam! The time has finally come for me to start the study course and I was too much for myself to even take! I never felt like going back to college was something for me. I work in education and of course any type of learning, education and/ or certification is encouraged. When the thought of becoming certified to this extent came up, I knew this was for me. At this point in my life, I am very happy doing what I do and do not see me changing jobs however I do want to do more in my job. Since my company is certification driven, I know it will give me more of a voice to accomplish bigger things. I'm also hoping I can create a domino effect in not only my workplace but my community as well. I do live in a rural area where breaking through the ceiling of "just a secretary" is tough and I think if I can start a movement, things will change for those admins coming up to replace the retirees.

I promise I do not normally write or type with so many typos; I guess I was just so excited to get my thoughts down! Forgive?

Best of luck to you, Cari! It's fantastic that you were approved to attend Summit for the first time last year! (I was a newbie last year, too.) It's even better that you have an employer who is supportive of your wanting to take the next step in your career. You will be so proud of yourself when you attain your CAP designation! Best of luck to you, and see you at Summit 2019!
