Spring 2020 CAP Exam
Hello, I have been in the administrative profession for over 30 years. When I first heard that there was a certification for my Administering career, I got so excited and researched, read the requirements, and I knew I could get this certification hand down. I went out and inquired with other Administrators if they have heard about the Certified Administrative Professional certification. I receive a couple of yes's, but mostly no's. One of the yes's told me that she never considered it because the testing to get certified was difficult. With this information coming from the top-level admin at work, I left the conversation questioning why I would ever consider it as well. After eight years, I revisited the CAP certification requirements. I was determined to get certified to set an example for the experienced and new Administrators. If an MBA tells you something about a person, so would the CAP after a name. Honestly, this will be my second time sitting through Marie Herman’s CAP study group and attempt to apply and register for the CAP exam, but this time is different because I WILL SAY YES TO ME. True, there is a lot of reading, and yes, you have to make time to study (I say that as I am a Chapter or two behind in my reading myself) - it is do-able and achievable.

Nicely put and very encouraging!! Best to you on this journey, Y. Taylor. Your experience will be an asset.

Marie will not let you fear the exam because she will see you through to the end. Take her practice tests seriously and you will feel much better about the final, actual CAP exam.

Then, you will LOVE when you can include the CAP after your name!!

Sincerely,

Yvonne, thank you so much for posting your thoughts. I have been on the fence too about attempting to begin the process. My company is currently going through a lot of change after an acquisition and I've been feeling a bit uncertain. Please keep us posted on your journey!
