Prepping for CAP exam
For many years I have been involved with IAAP -- ever since 2013 when I attended the conference in Anaheim! (maybe someday IAAP will come back to the west coast -- crossing my fingers for 2025). Over the years I have thought about taking the CAP exam and attended many informational sessions, but this year I finally enrolled in Marie Herman's Spring CAP Study group and am excited to prep for taking the exam to be certified. I realized that I just needed to make the decision to take the exam, or it would never happen. My supervisor is very excited after hearing about the learning outcomes of the certification and supportive of this professional development. It will benefit our department, and I think it will be great to validate the years of administrative experience that I already have and to learn even more helpful information. It is a little nerve-wracking because I have a lot of personal changes in my life upcoming in spring 2022, but I feel confident prepping within the structure of the study group class that I will be successful. If anyone has any tips, please let me know! I'm looking forward to this journey.

Congratulations on making the decision to get certified! You've already enrolled in Marie's course, which would have been my main suggestion. Do all the reading she assigns (I know it's a lot, but trust her), and most importantly, try not to stress too much! You've got this.

Thanks, Elizabeth! I was an English major back oh-so-many years in undergrad, so I'm sure reading all the text will come back to me quickly! Smile

Isn't it funny how we can think and think and think about a goal and just never get around to it, but then once we have a shift, it's like BOOM! It's ON!!! Go forth and conquer this exam!

Jennifer, Jasnery was kind enough to post my website link. If you have questions about my study group, feel free to reach out to me in PM. We are just one week in (next meeting is tomorrow night) but all sessions are recorded so it's easy to catch up.
