Why I am Sitting for the CAP Exam
Early in 2023 I decided to focus more on my professional growth. At that time I became a member of IAAP and tapped into several other development resources. As I learned about these resources I became aware of the CAP accreditation and was intrigued. I compared various certifications and found the most value in becoming CAP certified.
I hope that certification will allow me to stand out from other job applicants and earn me more respect in the workplace.
I’m feeling confident that I have the right resources to help me succeed. I’m also nervous about the exam itself. I made a deal with my husband that when I pass the exam, I will get a (small) tattoo, which he’s been trying to talk me into for years. This way he’ll allow me the time to study and I will have a reminder of my success in passing. He even offered to pay for it!!
To prepare for the exam, I reviewed all the resource materials on the IAAP Certification webpage. I purchased the recommended resource titled The Administrative Professional Technology & Procedures, the eReader CAP Study Guide, and enrolled in Marie Herman’s CAP Study Group. Additionally, I’m considering all the roles of my career and the experience and knowledge I’ve gained from these roles.
