CAP for Career Development
Certification is something I only began considering a few months ago. I really enjoy my current job, and working towards (and finally earning) my associates degree has allowed me to move through my company's career development steps successfully. Upon reaching my current stage, however, I found that I will need to expand my education/training even further to continue moving up. My degree is in general studies. Because it is not specific to the administrative and office management responsibilities of my current role, I will need certification to move to the next step. I'm feeling excited about this next step, but definitely have moments of nervousness. It is hard to imagine a test that covers the basics of an entire field of work. Participating in an online study group has helped me to gain confidence already and has definitely let me know that I'm not alone in starting this journey in my mid-30s.
