My reason for taking the CAP exam
My name is Marissa Zane. I have been an Administrative Professional for over 20 years in various different specialties ranging from medical office settings to private wealth management. My reason for taking the CAP exam during this season of my life is to prove to myself that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to. Being a mom to five amazing children and a gran to four beautiful boys, I wanted to pursue something for just me. My identity is usually wrapped up in being a wife, momma, and gran, so becoming certified will allow me the opportunity to showcase myself as an administrative professional. Becoming certified will not likely affect my current position as I am employed in higher education. I love what I do and have no plans to leave my current position. However, should I choose to move in another direction professionally, I do feel like the certification will make me more marketable to employers. Also, the required CE that comes with being certified will keep my skills sharp in the event that I choose to make a move to the private sector. Being a habitual lifelong learner, this certification and it's required continuous learning is a great fit for who I am and how I love to learn. I am a bit nervous about the prospect of taking the exam, but I am more excited to be pursuing this certification. I am participating in Marie Herman's online CAP study course in preparation for the exam.
