Summit 2025 - Chicago
I just booked my airline ticket to Chicago! I am so very excited. Can we use this thread to talk all things Summit? This is my very first in-person. I know I will have to miss the Monday final session to get to the airport on time. So, Summit veterans - what are you tips and tricks, must do's, must take's?

How exciting, Debra!  Please let's make sure to meet in person while we're at Summit!  My tips and must takes ... when we get closer to the event, make sure to download the Cvent app and get connect to Summit there. You will be able to view the schedule and everything you need to know right there on your phone.  Additionally, you can make connections with other attendees.  I like to bring my own refillable water bottle so I can stay hydrated during the day and most definitely pack a sweater.  Hotel conference rooms are often freezing.  On that note, a little pack of Kleenex and some hand sanitizer in your bag is a good idea.  Last year I made little packets for networking that had a fun pack of sticky notes and I slipped in a note card that had my LinkedIn QR code on it so that people could easily connect with me on LinkedIn - plus, as an introvert, it's easy to go up and talk to a stranger if you want to give them a little gift. 😊

When you get closer to the dates, be on the lookout for "Before You Go" communications from HQ.  Wear comfortable shoes.

Hi Debra! It will be nice to see you in person. I'm going to have to jet out early for the airport as well. I noticed some of the session look like they repeat. I'm strategically planning my days to catch as much as I can. Jean is a veteran. Before You Go is a great way to plan out your session. I believe there is recertification credit for putting a plan together.

Hi Debra, I'm so excited for you! Try to sit with different people in each session. Summit attendees are very friendly, and it's a great way to connect with more people and expand your network. Be willing to be flexible with your schedule, I think that's something that has helped me over the years. Definitely make sure you have your chargers on hand to keep your phone going all day - you'll be using it for the app! The app allows you to chat with other attendees, keep track of your schedule, and more. Like others have mentioned, there will be 'know before you go' emails ahead of time to help address specific questions. I hope we're able to connect in Chicago! Barrett Shaw

I look forward to seeing you there! If you check a bag, ensure you have enough in your carry on for 1-2 days, in case your checked bag is delayed Smile

As a seasoned attender of the annual gathering, it's had a lot of different names over the year, I can share that each year is different. I no longer attend but definitely enjoyed the years I did -- about 1982 until COVID. I did a few virtual attendance Summits and appreciated they were offered. However, I don't do as much education these days and haven't worked in an office for about 15 years. I've read the other messages and you've been given a lot of good advice. All I can add is be open to meeting new people and have fun. Look forward to you sharing your experiences following Summit this year.

I'm excited to say I received final approval, and jumped onto confirming registration, hotel reservations and flights. This will be my 4th Summit - I meet new people every time, sit with new people at all the sessions, and absorb the energy! I can't wait to see you all in Chicago!!

Make a plan to meet as many people as you can. Incredible connections can be built at Summit.

I will be there so grab me if you see me! Smile
