Not sure about other states but California would most likely want to tax it through a special license or fee.

This is SO very exciting. Thank you Sharon and Rhonda - way to advocate and what a great start for the rest of us.

Either of you want to develop a brief step-by-step process for the rest of us to consider?

Thanks again and CONGRATULATIONS on this exceptional milestone.

Good afternoon fellow admins! And thank you very much for the great emails & congratulatory messages! Sharon & I were glad to take on this very long journey, but I feel it is a win/win/win! A win for all certified admins, a win for IAAP and a win for the State of Indiana. To respond to some of your questions, unfortunately we feel like every state is going to be different. So a step-by-step instruction guide may prove to be totally worthless. I encourage you to research your state's committees, house bills and your legislators! Also, don't wait for IAAP HQ to do this for you! Jump in there and do it! I promise you will learn lots and it will be rewarding!

Thanks again!

Yes for TN State employees (and companies that follow their guidelines), getting your CAP is an automatic 9% pay increase. Very Happy

Barbara and Melissa, what does the IN program actually mean (what does it translate to in the real world)? Will it be required to be certified at some point in the state? Is it just a recommended thing? A way of verifying skills for employers?

Hello Marie & Others,

Let me try to answer your questions. One advantage to being Indiana State Certified is the mention on your resume. As we have discussed, our profession is increasingly more competitive. This is one more "feather in the cap" you might say. Also, all state certified admins will be on the state registry where employers can search for an admin professional. And with IAAP being the sole supporting organization, an employer can easily see how extensive it is to become CAP certified.

There is currently no discussion whatsoever that it will be required to be certified by the state, as in your question.

Does this help?

Georgia Certification
Does anyone know how this works in Georgia and how to go about the process?

This is so exciting! Kudos and Congrats to Sharon Katterjohn, CAP-OM and Rhonda Schenk, CAP-OM for pursuing this in your state!

A group of us reached out to our state professional licensing bureau after ready about this success!

I can't think of a better way to promote IAAP and our professional certification program!
