Why I'm Excited to take the CAP Exam 2 S. Donley To All Taking The Certification Exam - Good luck with your goal of attaining CAP certification. You will learn a great deal in your preparation for the exam such as time management, obtaining study resources, etc. No matter what the outcome, there is a sense of accomplishment in achieving the CAP designation. When my results were not what I expected, I challenged myself to take the exam again until I was successful.Linda L. Rolfe CAP (Ret.), OM

Recertification and Toastmasters 9 K. Chatak-Nelson I urge you to consider joining Toastmasters. I am a SHY Introvert, but I joined in 2009. For most of my life I avoided anything to do with public speaking. I took the Dale Carnegie course, and it was accelerated and high-pressure; I hated that course! But since I joined Toastmasters I actually look forward to speaking in public. You can go at your own pace - and it's extremely low pressure. In addition to earning recertification points by getting education awards such as Competent Leader or Competent Communicator, you can earn points for being an officer, if you decide that's what you want. And the networking possibilities are wonderful (either with a corporate club or a community club).

Fall 2017 CAP results 20 A. Thompson Wow, I haven't been on here in quite a while! I received my CAP results email about two weeks ago, and I passed! I was so shocked and excited, I almost jumped out of my chair at work and did my happy dance! Fortunately I didn't do that, but I did squeal a little bit, I'm not gonna lie! I was wondering if anyone knows if the CAP will be entered onto our membership cards by IAAP, or are we supposed to edit them ourselves and, if so, how do we do that? Thank :)

Sept. 2017 CAP Exam Cram - Registration Now Open 8 M. Herman Marie, before I sit for my exam on the 28th, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you, sincerely, for all your countless hours of time and attention during the study group! I know I had several questions along the way and I very much appreciate your time and especially your patience in responding to graciously to each of them! I admit that, unfortunately, up until a few days ago I really didn't understand the basic make-up of the actual exam and erroneously thought it was "based" on the study guide. I understand that it is more of a confirmation of what I, as the test taker, already know about the administrative profession over all rather than what was covered specifically in the study guide, as well as those areas with which I am not so familiar or have not performed over my extensive administrative career, which actually makes me feel better about sitting for the exam. I have done some intense reading and researching since then and now understand the process. I truly think I am as prepared as I can be to take the exam, but I also know there are a few areas that I do need to concentrate more specifically on, which I intend to do between now and the 28th. But since I anticipate being extremely focused for the next week or so on my trouble spots, I wanted to be sure to take a moment to thank you for all you hard work and patience! I truly believe that had I not participated in the study group, I would probably "think" I was ready to take the exam, but that belief would have been misguided since it would have been based on my belief that the exam was based on the study guide itself. Now that you've clarified that that is not the case, I can better prepare myself mentally and emotionally to not "freak out" when I sit in front of the computer on the 28th! So for all these things, I THANK YOU! C.

DC/MD/ VA CAP candidates study session - September exam. Any interest? 6 K. Foley I have received some interest in a review boot camp but not enough for Fall 2017 exam. If you want to be added to the list for updates for a review boot camp for Spring 2018, let me know. Traditionally, I've held this course the Saturday of the MLK, Jr. holiday weekend. Most likely I will keep to this schedule the following Saturday as a back-up for snow day. That would make the dates, Saturday 1/13, the make-up date if necessary would be 1/20. This will be limited to 10 persons and location to be finalized.
