CAP Journey 1 H. Peterson You can definitely make it Holly! Isn't it exciting to be nearing the end of a lifelong journey? Start thinking about how nice it will be to put those initials after your name. It can definitely be a challenge to return to learning after a long absence, but it absolutely can be done. Think about what a wonderful example you are setting for kids and grandkids. This is YOUR year!!!

CAP Testing 1 S. Moushegian The map only shows where the test centers are located and it is in the process of being updated to reflect more international locations. It will be finalized in February. Once a candidate applies and is accepted to sit for CAP, they are sent a link to schedule their exam. It is two separate processes. The delivery of the exam is handled by a third party. If you would like to confirm if there is definitely a location in your area email me privately and I'll be happy to look but I don't know the exact addresses just the area. Thank you,Barbara

CAP Timeline 5 M. Archdale Hi Megan!I would recommend taking a good 4-6 months to prepare for the test. I have a study group starting in May for the September 2017 exam. I sent you an email about it. It can be a bit overwhelming to do by yourself. It takes a lot of time and self discipline. I do think using a study group (not just mine, any study group) is helpful in staying focused. I'll be running a webinar in the next couple months on Certification Options for Administrative Professionals, which walks you through learning about the CAP and the Microsoft Office Specialist exams. Keep an eye on this forum for the notice I will post. If you have any other questions, feel free to drop me a note. Marie

Smartbook frustrations 2 J. Eaton I asked my McGraw Hill rep and he said the best way to keep your place is by using the 'Notes' function and saving your place as a 'bookmark'.I hope this information is helpful.Barbara

CAP Certification 2017 - My Choice 1 S. Skiba I think it's good for us to stretch our wings every so often and broaden our knowledge. It keeps us from getting too complacent in our jobs and taking the job market for granted. Good for you for going for the CAP and taking on a new position. So much to learn, but how much fun will that be!!!

CAP Certification 2017 3 P. Rowe HI Paula!!!I think many of us start this certification journey because we want to validate our skills. I'm glad you have already been finding the journey informative already. I truly believe we should expand our skills and knowledge as part of the process of becoming certification. A certification should never just be a piece of paper. It should mean something and the CAP does. You got this!

2017 CAP Exam 4 N. Maxwell, HI Nakia! I have found many students use this as a stepping stone to returning to school. The whole process gets them back in the studying frame of mind. It can also potentially count for credits depending your school, so it can save you money on a degree. You can definitely do this!MarieP.S. Thanks for the referral. Nakia actually is in my study group already. :)

Smartbook Questions 4 B. Mauldin It took me a little while to get the hang of the smart book. I get the most out of it by reading through the material. When it's grayed out, click on the grayed out material to read it. When it prompts you to practice, practice. If you're unsure about the answer, choose "Read about it" and go back to the question. It will prompt you then to read more when you've answered the questions to a certain point. Mind you, you don't have to do that, you can choose to keep going with the questions if you know them. Once you get through all of the questions, you'll get a message you've completed the section (GREAT feeling!). You can go to reports to see your progress.

Beginning CAP journey 1 J. Domino That was a great strategic planning thought you had to identify your current skill set and how it might (or might not) translate to a new future job. Great job! :)

My journey to the CAP exam 1 K. Smith Well there's certainly nothing wrong with hoping that passing the CAP will lead to more money ultimately in your career. It may not be as direct a path for most as it is for you with your specific employer, but surveys have indeed found that over time certified admins tend to earn more money than non-certified admins. I'm so glad though that you are also looking at the larger picture of the knowledge gained, self confidence and self esteem and quality of employee you will be by pursuing this certification. To me, those intangible qualities are absolutely just as important as the potential financial benefits. Let's do this!!!

My journey to CAP Certification 1 P. Taylor It's hard not to feel overwhelmed at the prospect of sitting for the CAP exam. It's definitely a worthy certification and that means it takes dedicated effort and work to achieve it. That's also why people can be truly proud when they have earned the credential. However, I have to point out that the test is a snapshot of one day in time. It does NOT define your value as an administrative professional (though it does ADD to it). *YOU* are *WORTHY* of the position that you hold whether you ultimately pass this exam or not. That said, I fully expect you will bring the needed effort to be able to pass this exam and I look forward to seeing you adding the additional letters to your name. :)

My Certification Journey 2 H. Kleiss It certainly sounds like God has been with you every step of the way, so you've got your faith to help you through this process as well! Being proactive in life and finding way to meet the challenges life throws at us can define our character. You can absolutely do this and create the life that you are looking for!

Going for the CAP! 2 L. Simone I have found many of my students use the CAP exam as a stepping stone to returning to school. It gets them back into a reading and studying mindset, it reinforces that they are capable of learning new things, which boosts their self confidence, and depending on the school/program, passing the exam may count for credits towards a degree, which can save money and time. So many reasons why it is worth pursuing!I'm so glad you found IAAP! :D
